Mexico City | Perros
I love dogs. LOVE dogs. This post will be solely dedicated to the loyal companions that they are. That being said, rather than bombarding this site with more posts about dogs than any other topic, I will take the liberty of consolidating all canine related photography into one, continuously updating post for each city. Be well my friends and stay tuned.
January 3 and January 6: Parqe Mexico
Imagine a world where 20 dogs sat patiently in a row just waiting for you to love them. Is reality allowed to toy with your emotions like this? YES. And it is a moment that transcends all others. Happiness has really never been felt by a single human until the unconditional affection of 20 furry new friends has been introduced into your life. This is Parque Mexico.
January 6: Perro on the Sidewalk
When a perro (dog) turns over to ask for a belly rub as you walk by, I oblige. This sweet baby must get so much attention throughout the day. Everyone walking by is invited for a little bit of puppy therapy and a hug. Viva Perros. Viva Mexico!
January 10: Parque Espana
While petting the perros, I talked to one of the dog walkers that train them: Jose Hernandez. Each puppy starts at a basic level where they are tied to a tree or to a bench until they learn to stay. Once they have proven that they can stay, they sit in the row, on their leash with the other dogs unchained to a grounded object. From this point, they learn commands in 4 different languages: French, Spanish, English and Russian. Four Languages. They are all so sweet natured; I held the stretching pom shown in the picture the whole time. When I tried to leave, she wanted to follow me. This girl knows how to make a heart melt. The dog walkers have no website, and they build their business out of word of mouth. It costs 600 pesos a week for 3 days from 8 am to 2 pm. If you're doing the math - that's 10 dollars a day.
